The realtime application consists of a number of 3D animation sequences. Each sequence is designed for a specific section of music in the movement.
The realtime 3D animation sequence could be as simple as the planet slowly rotating in it's orbit, a "journey" from Earth through the stars to the planet, or a series of slides showing close up NASA shots of the planets.
The backstage sequencing simply uses a key press to time the beginning of each one of these sequences to the performance. This allows the animation to be customized to the timing of the actual orchestra performance. The conductor does not have to follow any type of click track or timing device. The conductor directs the orchestra as he wishes, the sequencer backstage follows the score by pressing a key at the appropriate marked point in the score, and the transition to the next realtime 3D animation in the sequence begins - right in time with the live performance.
There are also visual cues to aid the sequencing backstage.
The result? The audience sees a perfectly timed realtime 3D animation sequenced precisely to the live performance. |
