Video Ideas used the same 3D animation "engine" that powers the presentation for the Planets concert in the Solar System Explorer CD-Rom. Users can click and drag the planets with the mouse, rotating them in full realtime 3D. They can zoom in and out and free explore our solar system while it is animating in realtime. They can speed up and slow down the animation, pick a planet to get a close up view of it, and rotate the planet using their mouse or the control panel to view it at any angle they wish. Users can also take a narrated "guided tour" and learn interesting facts and view satellite images of our solar system while they explore.
Orchestras have used this in the lobby pre-concert, post-concert and during intermission to engage their audiences and allow them to explore the universe on their own. It has also been used in schools, colleges, museums, activity centers and malls as a "promo" of the upcoming performance to generate interest and increase attendance of expanded demographics. Copies are available to orchestras who rent our production to use in any or all these locations. A retail packaged version of this program is also available on consignment for orchestras to sell for $19.95 at the performance. The orchestra pays a wholesale cost of $10.00 allowing them to make a profit from the sales of the Solar System Explorer to their audiences.
The link above opens a "demo" version of the Solar System Explorer with some features and planets disabled. Try it for yourself, and have fun exploring our Solar System.
